FAO and INFOSAMAK convened an expert Meeting on "Building bridges in assessment of marine biodiversity and resource status: Similarity, complementarity and opportunities for conservation and fisheries focused global initiatives" which was held on 9-11 November, 2016 in Casablanca, Morocco. The aim for the 2.5 days meeting is to build a better approach to working on information and informing the community, in order to offer further clarity to stakeholders.
The INFOSAMAK General Assembly held its eighth meeting on July 12-13, 2016 in Rome (Italy). The meeting was attended by representatives from Algeria, Djibouti, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Palestine and Sudan. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) which was represented by Dr. Lahsen Ababouch also attended the meeting. The General Assembly attendees recognized the efforts made by the Centre in terms of providing marketing information, training and consultancy services, and urged INFOSAMAK member countries that had not yet paid their contribution to do so, in order to help the Centre assume its duties under favourable conditions.

INFOSAMAK took part in the thirty second session of the Committee on Fisheries (COFI) which was held in Italy (Rome) from 11 to 15 July 2016. The session was attended by 108 Members of the Committee and one Associated Member, by observers from 13 other FAO Member Nations, the Holy See, by representatives from four specialized agencies of the Unites Nations and by observers from 69 intergovernmental and international non-governmental organizations.

INFOSAMAK Centre has participated at the “Experts’ Consultative Meeting on Strengthening Fish Trade Information System in Africa” which was held in Zanzibar (Tanzania) from 29th June to 1st July 2016. The seminar was organized by the African Union Interafrican Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR) and its partners the NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (NPCA) and WorldFish in collaboration with Zanzibar, the United Republic of Tanzania with support from the European Union.
Read moreINFOSAMAK took part in the first meeting of the Aquaculture Task Force (ATF) organized by GFCM, in order to develop a “Strategy for the sustainable development of Mediterranean and Black Sea Aquaculture”. The GFCM strategy on aquaculture aims to be an instrument for GFCM members to improve cooperation in the region and to ensure a coordinated and responsible aquaculture development within a Blue Growth perspective.
