World celebrates Fisheries Day

World Fisheries Day is celebrated every year on 21 November throughout the fishing communities holding rallies, workshops, public meetings, cultural programs and exhibition to highlight the importance of maintaining the World's fisheries.

The day helps in highlighting the importance of lives of water creatures to humans. Department of Fisheries organized a function to celebrate this Day in New Delhi.

Algeria: Creation of an agency to manage coral exploitation

A national agency in charge of the management and exploitation of coral has been created "about twenty days ago", a senior official of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries announced in Algiers.

Speaking on national radio, the Director General of Fisheries and Aquaculture at the Ministry, Taha Hamouche, explained that the establishment of this new agency was aimed at the best possible management of coral exploitation, the opening of which, decided in 2015 by the authorities, is "imminent", without specifying the deadline.
