The Minister of Agriculture and Maritime Fisheries, Mr Aziz Akhannouch, received on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 in Rabat, his Libyan counterpart Mr. Abdelhamid Bou Kharouba Soleiman, in the framework of a business and friendship visit that began on August 7 in Morocco, by the Libyan ministerial delegation headed by the Libyan Prime Minister, Mr. Abderrahim El Kib.

The European Commission, on behalf of the European Union, and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, initialled on 26 July a 2-year Fisheries Partnership Protocol (FPA) between the EU and Mauritania.

HM King Mohammed VI laid, on July 31st in Mohammedia (north of Casablanca), the foundation stone to build a socio-economic center for fishermen socio-commercial complex to support fish sellers, set up by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity for 7.9 million dirhams.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mr Youssef Amrani, held talks on Friday in Rabat with the European Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Ms Maria Damanaki, about the contours of a new fisheries agreement between Morocco and the European Union (EU).
