INFOSAMAK Centre has participated at the “Experts’ Consultative Meeting on Strengthening Fish Trade Information System in Africa” which was held in Zanzibar (Tanzania) from 29th June to 1st July 2016. The seminar was organized by the African Union Interafrican Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR) and its partners the NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (NPCA) and WorldFish in collaboration with Zanzibar, the United Republic of Tanzania with support from the European Union.
The aim of this consultative meeting was to ensure effective data collection and information dissemination in order to support decision making and facilitate intra-African trade in fisheries products.
The meeting was attended by 42 participants that included representatives from existing fish trade portals in the continent (including INFOPECHE with its unit INFOSA, GLOBEFISH, INFOSAMAK, EFMIS-Ke), AU Member States, Regional Economic Communities, Regional Fisheries Bodies, Private sector organisations, Developmental partners, WorldFish and staffs from AUC (AU-IBAR and NPCA).
