Within the framework of FAO-CFC-INFOSAMAK project entitled: “Technical Assistance for the Upgrading of small-scale Fisheries and their Integration in International Trade”, the Centre for Marketing Information and Advisory Services for Fishery Products in Arab Region “INFOSAMAK” organized from 19th through 26th February 2009 a Sensitization Training Sessions for the benefit of Moroccan fishery cooperatives.
The training session aimed basically at sensitizing fishermen to the good hygiene practices. Fishermen was trained on how to handle and how to store fish on board in order to save its freshness, to ovoid unbroken cold chain and consequently to reduce post harvest losses problems.
This session was also an occasion to train fishermen on other issues relevant to artisanal fisheries, namely: fishing techniques, safety at sea, and maintenance of fishing boats motors.
Furthermore, working sessions were held with Moroccan fishery cooperatives in order to analyze the status of facilities, equipments, working methods as well as to identify the main problems and constraints and how to solve them.
