Mixed fortunes for 2006 herring season
2006 was a poor year for the Norwegian herring fleet in terms of value, which was down overall from NOK 803 million (€99 million) in 2005 to 696 million (€86 million). This resulted in a fall of NOK 107 million (€13.2 million) for a total volume catch of 303 000 tonnes, up from 227 000 tonnes in 2005.
