For us, it's not about celebrating Women's Day as an annual gift to the fairer sex. It is rather the occasion to take stock of an essential fight, that of the emancipation of half of the population and the evaluation of its contribution to social transformations, what is commonly called development and which cannot be not just about economic quantifications. For this, we have chosen to highlight a rich panel, through these representative portraits of this generation of women who take responsibility. A portrait to discover: Majida Maâroufi, Director of the National Agency for the Development of Aquaculture.

Appointed at the head of the National Agency for the Development of Aquaculture (ANDA) created in 2011, this pure product of the Moroccan education system has managed to climb by force of the wrist in an area known for its predominance of men. For Majida Maâroufi, the Moroccan woman has integrated different fields of activity, even the most unlikely ones requiring special physical performance.
"Thanks to this determination, she was able to become a major player who actively contributes to the development of the economy of our country," she said. Born in 1967 in the city of Sefrou, she obtained her bachelor's degree in experimental sciences in 1985 and joined the Hassan II Agronomic and Veterinary Institute (IAV) in Rabat and at the end of her fourth year she chose, against all expectations, the fishery specialty to obtain her state engineer diploma in fisheries studies. After graduating from the Hassan II Agronomic and Veterinary Institute, she began her professional career in the private sector before entering the public sector. In fact, she was hired as a production manager for four years by a continental fish farming company specializing in carp farming, then in 1996 joined the National Institute for Fisheries Research (INRH) in Casablanca. Majida joined the Ministry of Maritime Fisheries in 1999 within the Department of Maritime Fisheries and Aquaculture, where she held from 2002 the post of Head of Department of Fisheries Management, then in 2008 that of Head of the Fisheries Resource Protection Division.
"The growth and development of our country cannot be carried by only half of its population, if women do not join this march in all sectors of the national economy", underlines Majida who wishes to specify that the cause of the woman is carried by the high authorities of the Kingdom. "HM King Mohammed VI, May God assist him, has in his far-sighted and modern vision launched multiple initiatives for this cause," she adds.
