The Minister of Agriculture and Marine Fisheries, Mr Aziz Akhannouch, was awarded, Thursday, April 28 in Meknes, the Spanish grand Cross of agriculture, fisheries and food merit, on the sidelines of the 11th edition of the Moroccan International Agriculture Fair (SIAM 2016) held in Meknes. "I could see it an encouragement to persevere in my efforts to be useful to my country and development of agriculture and sea fishing as well as to the continuous improvement of Moroccan-Spanish relations in these sectors" , noted Mr. Akhannouch who was awarded by his Spanish counterpart of Agriculture and environment, Mrs Isabel García Tejerina.

Mr Akhannouch, on the same occasion, declared that agriculture and marine fisheries represent for Morocco as well as for Spain important issues, sectors deeply rooted in the economic and social history of both countries. " It was thus of the utmost importance to consider the development of cooperation in these two sectors at the forefront of concerns , seeking the balance and the added value it can provide," he said..
Mr. Aziz Akhannouch also said that Morocco and Spain are linked by important bilateral cooperation agreements and community, for which the conclusion for some required a large commitment and especially a real will to move forward. Mr. Akhannouch stressed that this distinction is also a recognition of the efforts made by Morocco in the development of its agricultural sector and marine fisheries, through respective strategies Green Morocco Plan and Halieutis.
