A UAE delegation has visited Chile to learn about the development of the country's aquaculture industry. The delegation met with a team of professionals from the Undersecretariat of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Subpesca), led by the head of the body Mr Raul Sunico.
Ms Myriam Mohammed Hared, from the UAE's Ministry of Environment and Water, and Chilean authorities exchanged information and experiences on the development of aquaculture in both regions.

Ms Hared said the rapid development of aquaculture in Chile had sparked her interest in learning about the Chilean experience. "We are looking for collaboration from Chilean experts to help us develop the work of our laboratories," said Ms Hared.
"The two governments have signed a memorandum of understanding earlier this year, so now we want to deepen the collaboration between the two countries to learn more," she said.
On the other hand, Mr Sunico showed interest in the development of aquaculture in the UAE arid region. "We have concentrated much of salmon farming in the southern austral area. In the north we have the driest desert in the world, therefore, the aquaculture development issue in arid areas is a matter that concerns us," said Mr Sunico.
