Value of European cod fillet imports increasing
Notwithstanding concerns about cod stocks, trade indications suggest that Europeans continue to spend more on cod fillet imports. The value of frozen imports in major EU markets such as the UK, Germany and France are higher for the first half of this year compared to the first six months of 2006. The increasing scarcity of cod is, however, reflected in lower combined volume imports for the three markets and in higher import unit values.
