Report of the FAO-CFC-INFOSAMAK on “value addition and small-scale fisheries” [November 2011]
Following the FAO-CFC-INFOSAMAK regional seminar on value addition and small-scale fisheries held in Nouakchott, Mauritania, 22 and 23 November 2011, the INFOSAMAK Centre recently published the final report which summarizes the different presentations and discussions that took place during the seminar. The report is issued in Arabic and French.
Situation of the processing, packaging and marketing of seafood products and means to improve them in the countries of the Arab Maghreb [November 2011]
The INFOSAMAK Centre published a report entitled: “Situation of the processing, packaging and marketing of seafood products and means to improve them in the countries of the Arab Maghreb”. This document summarizes the current situation, obstacles and opportunities in terms of processing, packaging, storage and marketing of seafood products resulting from national studies conducted in Algeria, Mauritania, Morocco, and Tunisia. The report was prepared under a MoU signed between INFOSAMAK and the Subregional Office for North Africa of the Organization of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO-SNE).
New Publication: Techno-Economic Feasibility Study of value added seafood products originating from small scale fisheries [September 2011]
Within the framework of the FAO-CFC-INFOSAMAK project, the PEA has released a new publication entitled: "Techno-Economic Feasibility Study of value added seafood products originating from small scale fisheries". The document is produced as outcome of the techno-feasibility study conducted by the Centre. The study assesses the acceptability of value added products originating from the cooperatives of the three beneficiary countries: Djibouti, Morocco and Yemen.
 
New publication !!! [May 2011]
This document contains the papers presented at the INFOSAMAK/FAO-RNE Regional Seminar on “Fish Trade and Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated Fishing (IUU) in the Near East and North Africa: Implication of Certification and Traceability Schemes for the Region” held in Agadir (Morocco), from 22 to 24 June, 2010.

The contents of this document include papers presented at the Seminar. Collectively they show the status of trade and IUU fishing in the Near East and North Africa region with reflective examples from four countries’ experiences in fighting IUU activities. The findings, conclusions and recommendations with respect to the Seminar are included in the Seminar Report.

New Publication: Market study of fishery products from Artisanal fisheries in Arab countries [May 2010]
Within the framework of the FAO-CFC-INFOSAMAK project, the PEA has released a new publication entitled: “Market study of fishery products from Artisanal fisheries in Arab countries: Djibouti, Morocco, and Yemen). The document is produced as outcome of the market study conducted by the Centre. The study analyses the status of fisheries resources available to fishermen cooperatives in the three countries and sheds light on potential export markets, namely: European, US, Japanese and Arab markets.

Fish Info Network Directors meet at Conxemar, Vigo
In October each year the Spanish Association of Wholesalers, Importers, Manufacturers and Exporters of Fish products and Aquaculture (Conxemar) organizes the International Frozen Seafood Exhibition in Vigo, Spain.

Back to back with this event Conxemar jointly holds an international conference together with FAO. This year the conference was dedicated to cephalopods, a group of molluscs that includes squids, cuttlefishes, and octopus. The conference also provides the backdrop for various side events such as the Vigo dialogue on decent work in fisheries and aquaculture, and the meeting of the Fish Info Network (FIN).
