Le Maroc met en avant ses efforts en matière d’amélioration de la situation des femmes dans la pêche

Les efforts consentis par le Maroc en matière d’amélioration de la situation des femmes dans le secteur de la pêche ont été mis en exergue, lundi 5 novembre à Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle (nord-ouest de l’Espagne), par la secrétaire d'État chargée de la pêche maritime, Mbarka Bouaïda.
S’exprimant lors de la première Conférence internationale des femmes dans la pêche (du 5 au 7 novembre), Mme Bouaïda a souligné d’emblée que les principes d'équité et d’égalité des genres sont au cœur des réformes institutionnelles engagées par le Maroc, sous l’impulsion de S.M. le Roi Mohammed VI.
Le but de ces réformes, a-t-elle expliqué, est d’asseoir les bases nécessaires à l’égalité des chances et à l’accès équitable des femmes et des hommes à leurs droits civils, politiques, économiques, sociaux, culturels et environnementaux.

The workshop on ecolabelling of the octopus fishery in Mauritania was organized in Nouadhibou from 26 to 27 October 2016, jointly by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United States (FAO), the Mauritanian Company of Fish Marketing (SMCP), the Ministry of Fisheries and Maritime Economy (MPEM) and INFOSAMAK Centre.

The workshop was attended by about 55 national and international experts representing the Ministry of Fisheries and Maritime Economy (MPEM), the Mauritanian Company of Fish Marketing (SMCP), the Mauritanian Institute for Oceanographic and Fisheries Research (IMROP), The Naval Academy of Mauritania (ANM), the Autonomous port of Nouadhibou (PAN), the Free Zone of Nouadhibou (FZN), Small scale fisheries and industrial fishing professionals, valuation professionals, in addition to experts from FAO.

Fish Info Network Directors meet at Conxemar, Vigo

In October each year the Spanish Association of Wholesalers, Importers, Manufacturers and Exporters of Fish products and Aquaculture (Conxemar) organizes the International Frozen Seafood Exhibition in Vigo, Spain.

Back to back with this event Conxemar jointly holds an international conference together with FAO. This year the conference was dedicated to cephalopods, a group of molluscs that includes squids, cuttlefishes, and octopus. The conference also provides the backdrop for various side events such as the Vigo dialogue on decent work in fisheries and aquaculture, and the meeting of the Fish Info Network (FIN).

FAO-INFOSAMAK Expert meeting on building bridges in assessment of marine biodiversity and resource status


FAO and INFOSAMAK convened an expert Meeting on "Building bridges in assessment of marine biodiversity and resource status: Similarity, complementarity and opportunities for conservation and fisheries focused global initiatives" which was held on 9-11 November, 2016 in Casablanca, Morocco. The aim for the 2.5 days meeting is to build a better approach to working on information and informing the community, in order to offer further clarity to stakeholders.

Eighth INFOSAMAK General Assembly meeting

The INFOSAMAK General Assembly held its eighth meeting on July 12-13, 2016 in Rome (Italy). The meeting was attended by representatives from Algeria, Djibouti, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Palestine and Sudan. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) which was represented by Dr. Lahsen Ababouch also attended the meeting. The General Assembly attendees recognized the efforts made by the Centre in terms of providing marketing information, training and consultancy services, and urged INFOSAMAK member countries that had not yet paid their contribution to do so, in order to help the Centre assume its duties under favourable conditions.
